The shift nobody covered

It’s five in the morning and the director of nursing is on the phone again. Two people called in sick for tonight. The usual agency has nobody free. The staff who are already there will pick up the extra hours, again, and everyone knows how long that can last.

Here’s the frustrating part. Not far away there’s almost always a staffing agency with nurses and aides who want more shifts. The agency is out looking for care homes to work with. The care home is desperate for an agency it can rely on. They just haven’t met.

The need and the answer are often ten minutes apart.

Why don’t they find each other? Because both are busy. The nursing home is running a building full of residents, and nobody has time to vet agencies. The agency gets the same cold “not right now” from every front desk it calls.

An introduction cuts through both problems. When we connect a care home with an agency, we’ve already confirmed the home’s staffing gap and checked that the agency can actually fill it, with the right roles, in the right area, on the right shifts. Both sides come to the first call knowing why they’re there.

And it rarely stops at one shift. A care home that finds an agency it trusts tends to keep using it week after week. For the agency, that’s a client that keeps booking. For the residents, it means familiar faces on the floor.
